Weird distortions - anyone else see that?

I’m working on a very complicated house, so I have multiple “layers” set up - floorplans separately, walls separately, doors separately, etc. Each one is then imported as a Component into my “House Assembly” workspace, so I can either modify it “on-site” (and then Save Out to update the .skp file), or open it as a separate Sketchup instance and make modifications on the layer itself & then "Reload” in the Assembly file.

Just ran into a weird issue I’ve never seen before - importing one of the layers caused the ENTIRE workspace to “twist and shatter”:

…even items that have nothing to do with that layer:

Opening a fresh file and importing things in a different order worked to solve it. But I’m wondering if (a) anyone has seen something like this, and (b) is there a solution that doesn’t involve redoing everything from scratch?

hello, this usually happens when you have geometry too far from origin.

if you don’t see any, unhide every tag and show hidden geometry.

to quickly make sure that’s the issue, select from top left hand corner a part of your model that you know is close to the origin and paste it into a new model, and see how it shows.

at least you know the guilty tag if it’s the one messing everything up. Import it in a new file and look out for any geometry far from 0
