WDE
Hi everyone,
Over the past years, while working in an architectural office, I kept noticing the same repetitive tasks every day.
Instead of creating another single-purpose extension, I gradually built tools that solved those workflow problems one by one.
Eventually they became WDE - a unified architectural design environment for SketchUp.
It’s stable, it’s already being used, and today I’m finally sharing it with the community.
Architecture
- Doors
- Windows
- Curtain Wall
- Louvers
- Railings
- Stairs
- Patterns (Tiles, Stone, etc.)
- Primitive
Structure
A CAD-to-SketchUp workflow where WDE recognizes CAD Layers and generates 3D model.
Current layers
- Curtain Wall (single line)
- Louvers(single line)
- Railings(single line)
- Walls with Door and Windows layers
- Column, Beam, Floor(multi-floor), Slab, Ceiling, Partition.
Current workflow includes:
- Parametric walls
- Automatic door/window openings
- Native WDE door & window placement
- Editable structural components
WDE Library
Library Assets, Door, Window and Primitives supports Origin and Manual placement, and can also update existing selected instances.
also, Select any object in viewport you want to save in library, right click - Add to WDE Library
Documentation Engine
Generate documentation scenes directly from the model.
Current modules include:
- Plan
- Elevation
- Any Object Drawings Extraction
Workflow - Most generators inside WDE follow a Queue Workflow.
Instead of generating every object immediately, you can prepare one or many operations, add them to the queue, and generate everything together in a single execution.
This is still an early public release, so I’m sure there are workflows I haven’t encountered yet.
If you try WDE and find bugs, edge cases, or have suggestions for improving the workflow, I’d genuinely appreciate the feedback.
Sketchup 2024+ | Windows
Thanks!
