Visible and changeable on-screen object dimensions? (Corel/AutoCAD style interface)

Is there any way to make Sketchup (1) display object dimensions on-screen all the time, like in a status bar or a pop-up window, and (2) change those dimensions by typing in exact numbers, WITHOUT having to drag/resize it?

In other words, I’m used to the AutoCAD & CorelDRAW approach (where you can draw a basic shape and then type in the dimensions into the property bar), and I’m having a VERY hard time with the “non-exact” UI approach that Sketchup has. Like, why do I need to drag an object on screen and then “blindly” type in dimensions & hope it works? Why can’t I have an EXACT, DEFINITE property bar for it?

Any advice? Options / configuration, extensions, custom code?

Thank you!

There is, it’s called the measurements window and it is by default on the right bottom of the screen.
What you are asking for however is to SketchUp to work the same as AutoCad… It won’t and it never will.
