V-Ray for SketchUp Course: Issue - what am I doing wrong?

Hello,

I’m new to Sketchup and to V-Ray, so I’m making my way through the free courses and I’m up to Materials: Applying V-Ray Materials.

When trying to follow the video and add adjust the textures on the windows neither of the 2 ways described shows any visual difference for me (unlike in the video). Adjusting the Shell and Mullion work fine, but the windows just won’t change no matter what texture I apply. I know I’ve correctly selected the windows as I can move and delete them.

Here is a link to the video:

Here is a link to the sample model used:

Is anyone able to tell me what I’m doing wrong please? Is there something wrong/different with the windows?

Thanks in advance.

Select the windows glass group, double click to edit, then select all raw geometry and apply the new material.
The faces in that group had already applied a material on them, so when you followed the directions and applied the material directly to the group, there was no change.

// edit

The material applied on the faces, takes priority over the material applied on a group formed by those faces.

Awesome thank you, I wasn’t able to 100% follow everything you showed but I was able to use enough of it to get the desired outcome I needed. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. :slight_smile:
