I’m issuing a problem while opening a file in SU Pro v2026.
I get an “unexpected file format” message and the file don’t open.
even the SKB is corrupted.
It’s a file I saved 1 days ago like I often do.
it’s a hudge file of 56.663Mo, but like most of my files.
I tried to import it and it don’t work.
I tried to open SU with no extensions before to open the file, with no success.
if someone have any idea ?
I’m ready to try anything.

yeah, there are good chances Colin can recover something, you file contains both model.dat , one early and one at the end, after mentions of components.
meaning there is still something of value in there.
by pre 2024 standards this is a bit heavy.
but now, with the pbr materials and environment pressing down on the scale, it’s fairly normal.
I did a thing yesterday, small kitchen area in an office building, couple of materials, downloaded a few books and a couple of pots, and I’m already at 35mb.

Until he wakes up, could you clarify how you got a classic license for Sketchup? There’s no such thing for the 2026 version. Or are you using a c_racked version?
This is why you should store your SketchUp files on OneDrive. That way, you can recover them if something goes wrong.
If you read the forum working on files saved to external cloud locations (or external storage) seems to be a common cause for this sort of thing.
With a subscription you should have unlimited Trimble Connect storage, wich is the only proven solution for safest place of storing your files, it is also keep its version history.
OneDrive also has version history, so it provides the same key advantage of being able to restore an earlier version if something goes wrong.
as far as we found out, onedrive might be the number 1 cause of broken sketchup files on PC.
because the onedrive process, when active, has priority to check inside any file. even if to do so, it has to interrupt the saving process. the bigger the file, the higher the risk that it’ll interrupt the saving process without notifying sketchup.
Other services will wait for the file to be done. You might still get losses due to connexion issues but nothing as bad.
so of all the cloud storage solutions out there, when it comes to sketchup files, it might be the worst.
One drive is malware imo, and I recommend to remove it as soon as you can after installing windows, or even better use macOS if all the programs you use are available on Mac. It’s just my opinion.
I don’t think there would be any difference in terms of “malware” or data collection (MS vs Apple), at most one is better at hiding what they “sees” and “does”. 
I couldn’t get anything out of the files. The version of 2024 you’re using isn’t the latest one. It won’t help these files, but you might want to try a more recent version of SketchUp. There have been a lot of problems fixed since the one you’re using was released.
