Unable to open Model - Help

Hi There,

This is a very simple model I made a few years ago. The model preview shows in my file explorer, but when I go to open it in Sketchup nothing appears. Is the file corrupted or is someone able to help?

I also keep getting this message:

I noticed the same message when I opened your model. There are no groups or components in the file and when I look at it in a hex editor the majority of the file data is missing. Where were you saving the file while working on it?

Which operating system were you working in? Does the backup copy of the file exist in the same directory?

I had actually saved it on my Google Drive and downloaded it from there. It might be a goner because of that but I wanted to see if this held true for anyone else viewing the file too. Ugh!

Make sure you aren’t working on the file while it is saved to the cloud drive.

Instead of saving it to the your Google Drive, save the file locally while you are working on it and also save a backup to your Trimble Connect storage. Each time you save it there it’s an incremental save meaning that if things go pear shaped you can go back to an earlier version. You have unlimited storage with your SketchUp Pro subscription so you might as well use it.

The file is a SketchUp 2019 model. About 90% of the file is wiped out, so no real hope of getting anything from it.
