Stretching the window horizontally from 16:9 to 48:9 the UI remains at the same size but the SketchUp logo/watermark in the lower centre keeps growing until it becomes enormous! Shrinking the window horizontally below 16:9 and the logo becomes smaller.
The logo should keep to the same size and position.
I’m curious. As a hobbyist, why do you need a 48:9 aspect ratio in SketchUp Free?
In general I find a wider aspect ratio is much more pleasing and efficient for moving around in 3D spaces as well as leaving lots of space for UI elements and panels that don’t block the main view.
Specific to SketchUp for Web I wanted to make obvious the logo bug.
Why don’t you get a SketchUp Go subscription and get rid of the logo altogether?
If Trimble offered a reasonable one-time fee for non-commercial personal use I’d be interested. That still wouldn’t fix the bug and I think it’s a good idea to pay attention to small bugs as the same faulty patterns might have been used elsewhere.
From what I can see it’s not really a bug. It’s just the way watermarks work.
In almost 25 years of using SketchUp I’ve never run into another user who models with such wide angle distortion as you are doing.
It’s the first time I’ve ran SketchUp at an ultrawide resolution. I’m currently browsing the forum to learn how to adjust the view so it’s not so distorted.
What browser are you using?
I’ve opened up an old account in an Edge browser, and when I resize the window to something like your ultrawide ratio, the watermark shrinks.
Edit: Just tried it again in a Chrome window and it’s the same result. The watermark shrinks.
That’s odd I’ve tried Edge and Vivaldi on Windows 11, they both have the same behaviour logo gets bigger with a wider ratio.
Okay, I think something was up with my graphics card (I got an error message about a graphics engine failure and everything froze up for a few minutes). I tried the Chrome window again and when I narrow the window vertically, the watermark stays the same size.
I mean, it seems that’s just normal. That’s part of the trade-off when using the free version. The Go subscription is only about 130 for a year, and that includes an iPad version. Depending on how long this project of yours takes, that 130 could well be a one-time fee.
