by default (it seems) sketchup is creating a slice (SS-#####) that is it’s own group. This is a useful feature but one I would prefer to be able to turn off as well. Is there a way to toggle this functionality off on?
Can you provide an example model so we are sure we know what you are seeing?
nope. creating a new section creates a component (here’s how a new one appears in outline)
it’s the SS-6776877
It should be a plugin you use. When I create a section any group appears.
It sounds like you have an extension installed that is creating the component. That isn’t standard SketchUp behavior.
I thought it was an extension issue as well but I can’t think of which one would be doing it; here’s a list (fyi condoc is disabled)
What you show hightlighted and the ones above are just section planes, not components nor groups. Note the section symbol to the left of the name. Sections were added to Outliner a few versions back. When they are named logically it makes it easy to select a section to be made active without having to move the camera within the model space.
@DaveR the actual section slice that’s generated is the issue (the group/component labeled “SS-XXXX”) I do go through and name my sections in outliner so I can turn them off and on there.
Sorry. Confused by what you have highlighted in the screenshot.
What other extensions might you have that have anything to do with sections.
@DaveR no worries. I figured it out! the dibac extension has a “solid section” tool. this creates a new group with faces whenever you place a new section plane. There is a toggle to turn it off. Actually a useful function when you want it !
