Hi, I am curious if anyone has any experience with working between Sketchup and Trimble Earthworks or Siteworks (gnss)?
What I can do:
I can create linework in Sketchup and export it to Siteworks as a .dxf. Siteworks will then allow me to export it to Earthworks. I won’t go into detail though there are a lot of steps in exporting the linework.
I would really like to also be able to export surfaces from Sketchup to Siteworks and Earthworks though the surface needs to be in a .ttm file format to be accepted.
At one point Trimble had an extension called Site Contractor for Sketchup that allowed you to import directly into Earthworks though it appears the last Sketchup Version that was supported was 2018.
I know Trimble Business Center will accomplish the import/export that I need…I am trying really hard not to have to learn another software though.
I kind of answered my own question after working on this for a few months. I have attached the process as a PDF. If you find a better one please let me know!
Great questions and really nice workflow document. I’m the Siteworks Product Manager at Trimble, and would love to chat some more about your use of SU and Siteworks.
Please reach out via PM and I can provide you with a beta extension of the Trimble Site Contractor extension that I would be very interested to have you test out to let me know if it works for you. Note the published version at the link above only works with SU up to 2018. . . .
For anyone else reading this thread, also PM me or use the “Contact Developer” link on the extension page above, if you’re interested to check out a beta of the updated Site Contractor extension that works with current versions of Sketchup.
