Toolbar icon state

In the image, you can see the Tag/Layer tool selected, alongside a toolbar showing all the SketchUp validation states available in https://ruby.sketchup.com/UI/Command.html#set_validation_proc-instance_method

In my extension, some tools have the same behavior as native SketchUp tools, depending on how the user launches them.

Can someone clarify how toolbar icon appearance works?

I believe there are complaints that the appearance(s) have degraded on MacOS over the last few versions.

There is not much point in obsessing over them now as soon the Mac GUI will use Qt like the Windows edition currently does. So, in the meantime, I’m suggesting take a look at the Windows interface, and call out any GUI problems you see there.
