Is there a current solution to restoring this to my SUP software? If the answer is a clean re-install, can my current configuration be migrated?

Is the issue with toolbars ?
If so, there is an old bug, vertical toolbars can display tooltips, horizontal ones can’t.
You have to move the toolbar to the side of the screen to make it vertical, and restart sketchup, annoying, I know.
There is an old issue where the help tool tips setting could be wrong. On Mac you can get to the preferences file by choosing Go to Folder… from the Go menu in Finder, and pasting in this path:
~/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2023/SketchUp/
When you get there, open the file SharePreferences.json in a text editor (TextEdit would do), and look for this line:
"ShowInferenceTips": true,
In your case it may be set to false. Edit that to say true, Save, and then reopen SketchUp.
Make sure to include the ~ in the path you paste. Also, I gave the location for SketchUp 2023, if you’re on a later version then change the year number to match what you’re using.
Thank you, Colin. I have tried to find “Go” and “Go to Folder” in Finder a few months ago and today with no luck. Equipment: Apple, Mac Mini, M1, Sequoia 15.5. What am I missing?

I guess the correct term is “Inference Tips,” not Tool Tips. I want the live notation of information–numbers and/or words–near the cursor. Thank you, ateliernab. Sambones
