Hello Extension Developers,
We’ve seen some interesting new extensions pop up that seem to enhance SketchUp workflows in various ways.
B.B.M.T. has released 3D Dimensions, which converts standard 2D dimensions into actual 3D geometry. This can be helpful for 3D printing, CNC projects, and client presentations. B.B.M.T. is also behind 3D Text, an updated take on the native tool, allowing for easier editing of existing text elements. Additionally, their 3D Z Labeler generates true 3D geometry for Z-height labels, which should improve elevation documentation.
Abel T. offers Calculator, an extension that brings calculation capabilities directly into SketchUp, avoiding the need to switch between applications.
GENBA Tool’s GT Array Copy provides an intuitive way to create 3-axis arrays of objects, with editable parameters for spacing and count.
The Sphere In SketchUp extension simplifies the creation of perfect spheres, offering a visual, step-by-step process with live previews.
Kima Lin has developed Z5 Object Randomizer, a tool for scattering objects organically and realistically within scenes, featuring ‘Smart Offset’ and ‘Force Generation’ for precise placement. Kima Lin also created XREF PRO - Advanced External Reference Manager, which streamlines the management of large and collaborative projects by allowing seamless linking and updating of external .skp files.
archigraphics has introduced Quick Measure SKP, which offers instant dimensional feedback on hover and intelligently places dimension lines for selected faces, making model measurement faster.
The Sketchup Dude provides SketchUp Instant Dimensions, which displays the width, depth, and height of selected objects directly in the status bar for quick checks. They also have SketchUp Circle By Diameter, a handy tool that allows users to draw circles using diameter input, mirroring the native tool’s functionality.
BWP ARCHITECTS LTD. released quickSAP Home Energy Modelling, designed to assess early design concept energy performance within SketchUp, providing comparative results based on SAP10.2.
Eclipse Cabinetry’s Eclipse Cabinets offers a parametric workflow for kitchen and cabinetry design, streamlining layouts with real-time adjustments and an automated detailing system.
Material Depot’s Material Library by Material Depot extension allows for quick selection, previewing, and application of realistic interior finishes, with direct links to their website for pricing.
Lastly, Febhouse offers Sun Diagram Studio, an extension for performing sophisticated shadow and sun path analysis, automating processes and generating accurate 3D sunpaths and shadows.
