The LayOut template I created is locked and cannot be edited by my partner. We are trying to grab information from an Excel document and when it is copied to the template, it creates a gray square with a red x through it.
Share the template so we can see what you’ve got. Also show a screenshot of the complete References list when you have the template open.
What version of SketchUp and LayOut are you using? “SketchUp Version” doesn’t answer that question. What operating system? “2024” is not an operating system. What graphics card? “Cloud” is not a graphics card.

Typical of when the reference links are lost which commonly happens when users drag and drop references or copy and paste them from the original location or when the reference isn’t available because it’s in some web location or on an inaccessible computer.
First thing to is is make sure you aren’t copying and pasting references into LayOut. Second, if the original reference file isn’t going to be accessible, it should be unlinked so LayOut won’t be trying to find a file it can’t access.
