Text labels getting cut off by another layer

I’ve used the text tool to identify rooms on my 2d layout. I’m noticing that when I have the exterior walls tag visible, it cut say text in half - hiding the exterior walls tag restores the text. How to fix that (I can provide more detail if necessary)? Thanks!

You probably need to resize the text box.

Select the text box and use the “Size to Fit” option on the pull down menu.

I don’t see that option - did I use a different tool to create these? I know folks recommend Layout for this, but I created these before I knew about that - haha.

I just zoomed in on yours and I see you’re in Layout

Best would be to use LayOut for adding text like labels. If you must add them in SketchUp, delete the faces of the floors. SketchUp is a 3D modeling app and it isn’t unusual for label text to end up behind the face when you are making 2D drawings.

Got it - just did that, appreciate the help!

Which did you do?

I did them in Layout.

Good deal. And in LayOut put the labels on a layer higher in the list than the layer the viewports are on so they are assured to be in front of the viewports.

Will do - thanks again!

For those who don’t want to use Layout, you can use 3D text for that.

Since 3D text is not editable (you need to redo it if you need to change something), there is a nice plugin that allows the edition of 3D text by Thomas Thomassen.
