Yes I know that, these settings were already like this in my model
Not to keep picking but here are a few more examples of what I think of as over-spending.
The bikes on the training rollers:
Do the sprockets really need teeth. Does the chain really need as much detail as it has? Neither of those details are accurate anyway. Do the training rollers need bolts?
Here you have a dichotmy. The cushion on the bench at the round table is very simple and communicates clearly what it is. The chairs at the table and the one in the office are high poly things. (And the chair in the office would be difficult to sit in.) Are you telling the client they have to have an Apple computer on their desk? Even removing the apple logo will help a little.
For the entourage you add from the 3D Warehouse or other sources you should be downloading those things into a separate SketchUp file so you can check them out, clean them up, and slim them down before adding them to your project. Although it seems like that will increase the amount of time you spend on the project, in the long run that will be time well spent and it’ll pay off when your model gets to be large like this one.
I get it, thank you.
I’m not promoting any brand like AEG or Apple by the way. And the chair you can ofcourse sit in, but it seems a plane that is not meant for this view is checked.
Some models are imported from the warehouse, but never had any issues before.
I’m going to pay attention when importing, that wille help a lot, but my renders have to be detailed, so I cannot leave everything out. But some things are indeed not needed.
Thanks again!
It depends on how many you add. It’s possible to hit a breaking point for your computer.
I notice that in some of your scenes you have a style with Hidden Geometry turned on. I don’t know if that’s intentional or not.
I’m not saying you have to give up detail but surely that detail in your renders doesn’t include the wire racks and fan in the wall oven. And there are many other places where you’re investing in edges and faces that don’t add anything useful.
The bases of the beds is a good example. Look at all the geometry inside that doesn’t ever show.
Or under the couch.
Can you tell that geometry was deleted here?
These kinds of things are simple enough to cleanup before you add the objects into your project and every little bit helps. In a perfect world authors of these components in the 3D Warehouse would strip out the unneeded details but it will never happen so we get to do it ourselves.
