SU2024 new engine related

hi, I noticed that there are some performance issues with SU2024 when using the new engine (such as SU crashing and freezing), but it works normally in classic mode. Is this within expectations?

Additionally, I also use some third-party plugins (D5) as my rendering tools, and there may be SU crashes when using the new engine, but switching to classic mode can also solve the issue.

I want to confirm if this phenomenon is due to the new engine not supporting third-party plugins, or if it is a problem between the new engine and D5 (which requires cooperation from both sides)?

What SketchUp license do you have? There are no “Classic” licenses for versions newer than 2021.
Have you updated your display driver and made sure that SketchUp is using your Nvidia card?

Hi, Thank you for your reply.
What I mentioned earlier is this 2024-specific feature, and the graphics card driver is also normal (some 3A can also be played normally)

What do you mean? When you click on the graphic engine details is your 3060 selected as the gpu or the integrated graphics of the cpu?

Some 3rd party renderers still use OpenGL contexts. The new graphics engine does not use OpenGL anymore, so you may need to switch to the classic graphics engine when using these renderers.

No, this is generally untrue. SketchUp has not announced that they are abandoning third-party plugins.

However, there may be updates needed by either SketchUp or these renderers may be to be updated. Just pay attention to the SketchUp Release Notes page and announcements from D5.

Meaning that, as new features are rolled out, there may be some “growing pains”.

D5 is an entirely separate - if it is crashing when you use SketchUp and D5, then you likely have wider issues on your machine.

Running D5 render is incredibly demanding, so if you are running SketchUp as well, which also uses more GPU resources now, then you may be more likely to run into issues on a low-mid card such as the 3060.

Ensure your machine has the very latest drivers from Nvidia - don’t use windows update.
