SU 25 - can't keep clicking fast to open nested component/group?

When using previous versions of SketchUp, I have been able to click multiple times fast on a nested component, and then eventually tell when I’m in that component because everything ends up highlighted. That is a fast way to get into a nested component for editing.

With SU 25, it seems that this does not work. Clicking multiple times fast does nothing after the “outer” stuff is selected. I have to wait a second or two and then double click again to open it. When something is nested several groups/components deep, this is a bit annoying.

Does anyone else see this same behavior? Is there any workaround? Any idea why it is occurring now?

I’ve heard this reported from multiple different people, and @mikebrightman mentioned it in his SketchUp 2025 review yesterday as well.

I’m hoping it’s just a bug they can fix, because it sounds like it’s making some people pretty frustrated.

@colin - have you heard anything about this one?

I suspect the little pause is to separate double-click(open for edit) from triple-click (open and select all). But that doesn’t explain a change from 2024 to 2025…

I know that it is being looked at. Not sure of its current state, but I should be able to tell when the problem is fixed in internal builds. As of right now it isn’t fixed.

Thank you for looking into it!

Hello

A more urgent fix was needed, which we took care of today. As it happened, the fix for the having to pause when quickly tunneling into a series of groups was also already added to the release version. And so it is in the latest version along with the more urgent fix.

Here are the release notes:
