After updating to SU 2025 my extension windows are having display issues. I’ve checked and this is not a problem in SU 2024. Everything still works but it’s annoying.
Has anyone been experiencing the same thing and have a fix?
Are we supposed to guess what your issues are from unlabeled screen shot images?
Whose extension(s) are you having issues with ?
No need to try to be smart ass. I explained that I’m having display issues. The images are showing the discoloration of the pop up windows. Not sure how that’s not clear. If you’re not familiar with Medeek, that’s the first two images to create walls. The third image says what it’s for on the top of the window, it’s Skimp.
I am being blunt as I am not one to “beat around the bush” getting at the facts. It is NOT clear at all. We cannot see the SketchUp window caption in any of the screenshots so we would need to guess what version the screen shot is from, or assume they all are from SU2025.
If you want good help, do a good job at explaining your issues and label your screenshots.
For example, I’ve never seen either of these dialogs, (and I been involved with SketchUp extensions for 17+ years,) so I don’t know what they are really supposed to look like. (Yes, I can tell the first image has terrible CSS styling.)
The main difference between SU24 and SU25 pertaining to UI::HtmlDialog
windows, is the update from Chromium 112 to 128. This can bring with it changes in HTML and CSS rendering or support for new features, as well as more stringent parsing. (CEF is notorious, with me at least, for pooping out whilst parsing CSS stylesheets if it encounters a syntax error. This causes the remainder of the stylesheet to be ignored. This results in partially styled dialog content.)
(pings to Dale and Nate - removed.)
My main questions would be:
-
Are these two extensions certified to be supported in SketchUp 2025?
-
Did you use the online or offline installer ?
- I would suggest using the offline installer and run it via right-click “Run as administrator”.
- Also, reboot machine to clear out memory before running the installer.
- You would choose the Repair option.
If a installation repair does not help …
Did you use the Trimble’s Extension Migrator tool to bring the extension into SketchUp 2025 ?
… or did you do new extension installs ?
What window captions are you talking about? Is the title of my topic or post not clear that I’m using SU 2025? Does it matter what extension I’m using? I don’t get it. It’s pretty much all extensions and this isn’t happening if I use these same extensions in SU 2024. I’ve been using SU for 10 years and you have 7 years on me. Does that come into play somehow?
I see you’re trying to help but ya, maybe try to be less blunt, seems a bit rude. If you can’t be nice then just don’t answer the post. I don’t need that.
The screenshots are just showing the strange colors. I explained that the extensions still work but that it’s just annoying.
Thanks for your agitated response dude. Make it a positive day.
obviously.
that’s also relevant. do you have a list of extension that causes problems ?
you’re going to the hospital saying “well, my wife is sick”. nurse asks “where is she?” you answer “how rude, she is at home resting, why?” and then you complain that the hospital didn’t help her.
can’t help if you don’t give infos. you’re not new here, you know that.
instead of providing actual good info, you’re here arguing again. man, at some point, you have to wonder…
by the way, what is your GPU ? there is no NVIDIA 128. and before you ask, yeah, it can be relevant
this is not the day. I’ll mute you and this thread, it’s simpler.
The SketchUp application window caption that shows what version it is!
Is is simple! There is no way Dale or Nate would be able to take the time to read every post and recognize their extension dialogs, … because you never mentioned the extension names nor pinged them.
But …
You did not make this clear in your opening post. You posted images of two dialogs.
So, then you have an issue with YOUR installation. And NO, I have not seen anyone else have such problems with ALL extension dialogs. I am currently extensively testing HTML dialogs in both 2024.0.2 and 2025.0.3 and I’ve not run into such weird CSS color issues.
Bluntly speaking, my advice is still in the two posts above.
(And since this is actually not about certain extensions, I’m removing the pings I did above.)
Dude, just stay out of it and quit trolling. I come here of friendly advice and help. Not for anyone to be a smart ass and criticize me. You only get involved if I’m talking someone that’s been a bit offensive and you take the other side. Just butt out and go do something other then troll.
Thanks for trying to help. I just mentioned that you didn’t need to come off like that. If you can’t be nice then just let someone else help.
I’m using SU 2025 as stated in the topic. The issues are just annoying and not keeping me from working but it would be nice to know what happened. It appears to be most pop up windows and even the SU extension manager. Not all but some. I would have to open every extension and see.
So far it’s Medeek, Thru Paint but not Round Corner, SU Extension Manager, Podium browser.
Not having issues with Location or solid inspector.
It’s weird, I know, but seems odd if I’m the only one but who knows.
still waiting on that one. if so many of your panels are bugging, it sounds like graphical issue.
at some point, if you find me rude, and Dan. and Dave. And Royce. and Box. and Anssi. and Mike. and and and…
I’m starting to see a common point.
sad part is, the only way to get actual actionable infos from you seems to be rude.
Good luck on this one Dan.
I haven’t noticed anything myself with my menus in SU 2025, but I might need to test them further.
Thanks Nathan. It is, however, doing this on other extensions just so you know. Even the SU Extension Manager but 2024 is fine.
It sounds like something is up with your installation. I’m not sure.
I think Dan is suggesting I do an offline install. I’ll try that I guess. Thanks again.
Going back to the original problem…
Windows has a system called ClearType. It makes use of the sub pixel colors of LCD screens to give the illusion of better antialiasing. If that was set up to work on a screen that didn’t have the right kind of sub pixel colors, it could lead to colored artifacts in the letters.
It’s not out of the question that SketchUp’s HTML dialogs are doing something wrong with regard to ClearType. You could press the Windows key, then type cleartype, and go into the ClearType tuner control panel, to make sure it’s set up right for your screen.
Hi Colin,
Thanks for your help, appreciate it. That didn’t work. Dan mentioned to try an offline install of SU 2025. What do you think? I’ve never had to before but I also don’t typically upgrade SU every year. I was having issues with 2024 taking a long time go boot. Switching to 2025 eventually solved that but now I have this issue.
How old is your computer, and what graphics card does it have? Are the drivers the latest available from the Nvidia website?
The computer is about 2 years old now. 128 RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti - up to date.
This doesn’t happen when I run SU 2024 though. It just started after upgrading to 2025. Not all extension but most of the one’s I use. It’s strange, all extensions work fine, it’s just the extension display on the pop up windows.
Are you using the new graphics engine or the classic graphics engine?
