Style Window, Colors not matching up

In my style window, I have set both the “Front Color”, “Back Color”, and “Section Fill” to the same “Iron” Color (Mac crayon preset), but they are not displaying as the same grey. Why is this occurring, and is there a fix?

Hard to say without seeing the model.

It is poor practice to set the back face color the same as the front face. You should be correcting reversed faces instead of masking them.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the quick response. I agree on the reversed faces; I only changed them to the same color in this case because I figured the first response would be telling me to check if my faces are reversed and I am seeing the Back Color instead of the Front Color.

Attached is a model that shows an example of this issue, but I am moreso curious if front color and section fill are rendered differently in all cases or if there is something else happening here.

Ok. So what you are seeing is that the front face color shading is affected by the “light”. Section Fill is not affected by that. Without Shadows or Use Sun for Shading turned on the light comes from the camera. You can turn on Use Sun for Shading and then adjust the light and dark sliders to change the shading.

You can use the same sliders if you want to “flatten” 3D geometry.

By the way, another option would be to use SectionCutFace to create a “real” face at the section cut and give it the front face material or whatever material you are using on the front faces.
