I am working on a interior design project and suddenly the file is becoming very slow. I cannot action e.g pull a wall in one go, it staggers. I did import object from Meshy AI. Does this substantially slow sketch up. What to do and how to prevent?
This is a common thing when users bloat their files with heavy (high poly) entourage and excessively large texture files. Certain styles can also cause issues. Most likely you need to clean up the model to reduce the load on your computer’s resources.
It most certainly could. From what we’ve seen, AI-generated geometry tends to have many more edges and faces than it really needs.
Learn to clean up your models. Don’t import anything directly into your project. Instead open it in a separate file so you can check it and clean it up before adding it to your project.
If you share the .skp file we can give you more precise information. It’s surely larger than 16 Mb so upload it to a file sharing service like DropBox and share the link.
The first thing to do is to open the model info statistics panel and look at the number of edges and faces in the model. If it is tens of millions, that is the cause of the slowdown, and you need to simplify the model as @DaveR suggested.
