Snaps suddenly not working properly

Started a new model and inserted into a new Layout document.

Dimension tool no longer snaps to some (not all) section intersections with objects.In this case the objects are 4x4 posts in a deck.

Section cut is 30” above the deck. Dimension tool snaps to the deck edges/corners but no response when hovering over the posts, edges or corners.

On older drawings snaps still work normally.

Restarted Sketchup and Layout, restarted my Mac, signed in/out of my account, created a new Layout document, still no snaps.

I’ve looked all through both Sketchup and Layout settings trying to find a setting that might affect snaps but found nothing.

I noticed something changed with Trimble sign-in dialogs. Now it sends a confirmation code to my email before allowing me to sign in. Don’t recall doing this before.

Also notice that the first part of this message is single-spaced and now it’s forcing double-space type :eyes:. Strange.

Probably PEBKAC but wanted to check with the hive mind jic.

Nevermind, figured it out

Had a decking object (solid) intersecting the posts with no hole cutouts

Still think snaps should have worked but :man_shrugging:

If there was no intersection between the faces there’s be nothing for the Dimension tool to snap to.

Glad you figured it out, though.

I will often switch to a style with back edges on, dimension, then switch back to my presentation style… makes this sort of thing a non problem - but it also depends on what you are dimensioning and what else is in the scene…

I assumed (wrongly) that I could snap to the section cut edges, which I can do when there’s no intersecting solid below the cut.
