As I arrange parts of my small drawing, such as this attached garage foundation plan. I want to include additional info that seems to be too crowded to add to this view. So I added a “page note”.
Is this an acceptable way to include notes specific to only the parts of the drawing there are on this page?
I’m trying to be efficient with paper sizes/number of pages, plus I just don’t know what it should look like I sorta know what I’m doing…
Notes can be a good way to communicate information. Nothing wrong with that. I might make the text a little more succinct. The label, “1/2” Anchor Bolts 6" O.C." is more specific than the text in your notes. The notes seem to allow the builder room to choose what they want to use for the bolts. The label doesn’t.
Maybe the label could read like this:
Anchor bolts, 1/2 in. dia. by 10 in. long,
embedded 7 in. min., 6 in. O.C typ.
I’m not sure if your referring to the bolt spacing dimensions in the notes vs the drawing…but as I looked closer the layout seemed to replace " & ’ with a dot? See the highlighted vs rendered below
That’s probably due to the font you selected. Is it Flux Architect?
Max spacing of 6 ft makes more sense for long straight runs.
Notice in my text example I used in. instead of the double quote mark. I’d use ft. instead of the single quote mark. This would help to avoid confusion. So it might be:
Anchor bolts, 1/2 in. dia. by 10 in. long,
embedded 7 in. min., 6 ft. O.C max. typ.
I have on occasion run into problems with different ASCII characters being used for " and '. If it’s been typed on the keyboard on the same machine, it should be consistent, but if you copy something off a webpage, say, it might use a different character, and you can’t really tell by looking at it.
I’ve used Tekton Pro for about 20 years for shop drawings made in LayOut. Never a problem with it. I guess I haven’t copied text from another source to paste in but I could see how that might be a problem depending on the source.
