Slow moving SKP Pro 18

I have often had problems with LO being somewhat slow but recently SKP started getting clogged up and slowing waaaaaaay down. I just waited 60 seconds to “Make group from slice” and then just awhile later I was doing some simple moves and shape edits and the fan kicked in and everything slowed to a halt.
Help!!! I can move this slow and keep on top of my work load.

What could I do do look for how to correct this or speed it up? System is:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB

One thing to try : go to model info>statistics and purge unused.

Could you share the SKP file so we can take a look and get an idea whether this has something to do with the model, the software or the hardware?

Depends on the size of the file. Guessing it will be too large so upload to Dropbox and share the link.
