Oooo! Nice one Dave! We like shiny! Any dimensions missing on that one? Cheers, Transom (Steve S.)
Thanks!
No. Plenty of dimensions. I had to trot out some geometry concepts to sort out the truncated teardrop shape around the hole with the keyway. I don’t like approximating tangents and used an arc between the two angled edges to get the correct shape.
On the other hand, this one will be tricky because there are dimensions that are incorrect. Note where the hook sticks out on the side. I’ve double checked the dimensions and angles.
Edit to add: Easy mistake to make because it isn’t specified in the drawing. Although it’s a 20° angle between the sides of the extension to the right , it’s not symmetrical across the centerline. A warning to @TheOnlyAaron if you model this thing.
A few missing dimensions on this one but they can be worked out. I wouldn’t want to be the machinist tasked with making this from the supplied drawing, though.
I found this one very difficult to glean dimensions too.
Some of the dimensions seem like you have to go through the backdoor to find them but the only thing I needed to measure off the image was the angles on the sides of that extended part. The width indicated by the arrows isn’t directly given, for example.
Noooooooooooo!!!
Good exercise for you. ![]()
So you’re saying that you will NOT be doing my homework for me, then…
Well … Do you want me to?
Ha! No… besides, viewers have told me how much they like seeing me fail…
I like seeing you succeed when it looks like it’s going to be a fail.
That is the best scenario. Per aspera ad astra.
