Ooh Ahh! Excellent work!

WIP. A 2-cylinder engine for a paddle steamer. Still a lot of parts to make.

Good stuff Dave, as usual. Out of interest, where do you get the reference material?

Thank you.

I don’t know. It just comes from going down rabbit holes on the web.

Double shadows. Is that from Environment plus original style shadows or superimposed in post?

Actually both shadows are environment shadows combined in the image editor along with an edges-only export. These are the two shadow images I used. Some soften/blurring was applied to the shadow images in the image editor.

Here’s a detail of one of the paddle wheels for this recent engine.

The paddles are articulated so their angle changes as the wheel turns.

Someone asked about animating a “pater noster” type of shelf unit. This is what I came up with as a concept. Since the objects are all components it would be simple enough to flesh out the details.

Screwing around with it a little bit.

Still need to time the valves and put the eccentric straps on the eccentrics as well as add the screws and stuff. Render is basically straight out of SketchUp. Metals from the 3D Warehouse, the red and green are from the livery colors for the old LNER (London and North Eastern Railway).

On the printer now.

These, along with some thickness gauges are used for changing the center of gravity on wheelchairs. Two different pairs for different frame tube diameters.
