.skp to .nc1 file

I work for a steel company, and we fabricate & profile structural steel. I’d like to be able to export a 3D beam from sketchup into an .nc1 file so we can use our Ocean Avenger+ drill line machine. My understanding is that I need to export with G-code attached to it, so I would need some sort of converter or alternative method to get to .nc1. Any advice?

Im not sure if this will help you but steel & SketchUp makes me think of DecaSteel, an extension from Mindsight. Maybe see if that extension has something you need, or contact the developer if it doesn’t.

Hi there, what solution did you finally find for g-code starting with Sketchup ?

The best answer to the question would be to consult with the manufacturer of the equipment you will be using for fabrication.

If you want a cheap software that can generate g code, Qcad Pro with the cam extension cost $40 for a permanent license free upgrades for a year, the basic version of draftsight is also capable to generate g code, I’ve used it a couple times, it’s $200 per year, I don’t think it’s worth paying that just for g code generation, I have a draftsight license but I use it all the time for documentation from layout.

Thanks for your reply

I have not yet found a resolve, but I may try Qcad Pro. The solution I keep coming back to is to send the IFC to someone that uses Tekla Structures and have them convert it to an DSTV
