SketchUp Save Error - Not Fixable?

I just completed my first 3D drawing and I cannot save it or export it. all I/O operations from SketchUp result in an error message that references internal memory locations. What do I do now? Throw everything away and start over?

Message - which this help area does not allow me to paste an image:

Something minor is messed up in your model but SketchUp can fix it. Would you like to fix it now? Blah … Blah …

After requesting a fix:

Results of Validity Check
**** Problems were found that could not be fixed! **** So SketchUp lies to me.

The entity at address ff62720 has an invalid id (0) destroyed (0)

The drawing is nothing but a box with a sloped roof. So why would this be a problem?

  • switch on all layers and unhide everything
  • select everything
  • copy to clipboard
  • open new model
  • paste to new model
  • save as…

First thing to look at is did you install SketchUp correctly? That means, did you right click on the installer and choose Run as administrator? If you didn’t, SketchUp is not installed correctly and you’ll need to repair the installation. Find the installer file you downloaded, right click on it and choose Run as administrator. Then choose the Repair option.

Did not change anything

I will attempt to re-install as you suggest. I do not anticipate this will be of help. All of the install scripts executed and finished with SUCCESSFUL reports. I have not experienced much benefit to Run as Administrator under Windows 7 when your user is already set up as a full Administrator. Such is not the case in Windows 8 and Windows 10.

Well, I guess it’s like chicken soup. It couldn’t hurt.

Being logged in as the administrator is not the same as using Run as administrator in the Context menu.
