I used a SketchUp extension that I developed named Composition Guides which is FREE.
You can download it in my [Extension Warehouse](https://extensions.sketchup.com/extension/5d33e08d-8d73-4c96-ac97-3442ece9278e/Composition%20Guides) OR [Gumroad](https://indie3d.gumroad.com/l/composition-guides)

I also created a forum post explaining the extension features [HERE](https://forums.sketchup.com/t/new-sketchup-extension-composition-guides/217589/16)

Here is the answer to your question…
 ![Square Viewport Setting](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/3X/6/3/633f164afc3120caf6b11f726f1dfd6fe3e028ab.gif)

Steps:

1. Open Composition Guides after installing the SketchUp extension.
2. Open de dropdown menu and select the option (1:1 - Square)
3. Click the Plus Button (+) to create a SketchUp scene that will remember the viewport setting.
4. Done!

Also, this can be achieved in other ways but I am just mentioning to you what I personally did. Cheers!
