SketchUp .OBJ Export

Hello,

I created a model in SketchUp and exported it to Blender as an OBJ file. However, after importing it into Blender, some parts of my walls are not visible, as you can see in the screenshots.

When I rotate the camera, the walls become visible in certain areas and then disappear again as I move the camera.

How can I fix this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Is your model far from the origin?

obj is a pretty old file format

you should get better results with collada or glb/gltf too, if it’s an option for you.

I can’t open a Collada format file in Blender. How can I open it?

Try glb

Blender is likely respecting the face normals So you can only see the front facing faces.

The back faces are invisible.

Correct your model in sketchup so it can render properly in blender or apply a double sided material in blender .

It could possibly be a clipping problem.

Press N on your keyboard to activate the sidebar.

Click on the Item TAB and then your model. Check the dimensions to make sure your model hasn’t massively scaled up during import.

If your model is the right size, click on the View TAB and increase the value of “End”

true, I just checked (didn’t have it on me before)

it imports glb/gltf though.

and Cappo and Mihai have posted solutions too for your obj files.

I try to stay away from “old” formats like obj and 3ds, because there have been better ones since then, and it’s often like taking a step back from your actual model (some will merge everything and not respect groups / components, or will just drop your materials…)

There is an Add-on called Collada Support that you can install.

It’s free and as far as I know, it works with recent blender versions.

Thank you very much to everyone who replied.
