I used Sketchup Environments for the first time yesterday. I had to change the preferences to the new graphics engine in order to activate Environments. Is there any downside in switching to the new graphics engine? I’m relatively a SketchUp novice and typically design a few houses each year.
Depends on the graphics card in your computer. You’ve chosen to hide your forum profile so we can’t tell you if there’s any downside based on your graphics card, though.
I would suggest that you leave environments and the photo-realistic materials until you are ready to make images from your models. Don’t do your modeling with them enabled because that creates additional load on your GPU and can potentially cause a performance hit.
My graphics card is NVIDIA GeoForce RTX with 4GB. I will update my profile. Thank you for the advice!
Probably no downsides of using the new graphics engine and if you aren’t creating bloated models, you might see better performance.
Thank you. If you are going to leave it hidden updating it probably won’t make much difference. When it is displayed and correct that information does help us help you, though.
You’ree welcome.
I’ll fix my account so it’s not hidden or private. I’m looking where to change it right now. Thanks again.
Click on the T in the orange circle at the top right of the forum page. Then the person icon, Preferences, and Profile. After updating the information and unhiding, remember to scroll to the bottom and save the changes.
Untick the box:
Got it. Thanks again.
