SketchUp + MAC + PICO 4 VR Headset

Hi,

To avoid the rants of a highly frustrated interior designer trying to bend technology to my will - please skip to the next paragraph. All I am trying to do is view my SketchUp model in my PICO VR headset. After many hours swearing at all the devices and software involved, I am on the verge of giving up. I was trying to use SimLab Soft as it offers an extension for SketchUp to easily integrate your sketch model into a VR environment (only it doesn’t… if you’re on a Mac, it crashes every time you try to place the VR starting point camera). So I worked around this and got my model in to SimLab composer where I can view my model and preview it via the SimLab VR Viewer application in VR (obviously I have to use the desktop model when on my MAC). Not a perfect set up but all good with the workarounds. I have successfully connected the MAC and the PICO so I can even open this version of the model in a desktop stream in my VR headset - but it’s not a true VR immersive experience as its just the projection of the desktop version. So the final stage is to get load my PICO with the Simlab Soft VR viewer software to enjoy the thrill of walking through my clients house in VR. And that is where the elusive dream comes crashing down. The Simlab Soft Pico Viewer installation won’t run from a Mac. I have contacted SimLab and they are aware of the issue but offered no resolution, just that they are working on it. WONDERFUL. However, it doesn’t help me for my client presentation in 3 weeks where I want to blow the clients socks off. I’m a designer not a tech bod and this is driving me round the bend. I am so close but I feel it’s not going to happen.

So to get to the point… has anyone else managed to get a VR experience working using a SketchUp model, a MacBook Pro and a PICO headset WITHOUT SimLab Soft? If so please share all your wisdom and vastly superior skills immediately. The only other alternative VR viewer that I am aware of, the Sketchup AR VR Viewer, only works on Oculus Quest.

Thank-you.
