Hi everyone, my file crashed and now says ‘This does not appear to be a SketchUp model’. The file size is still normal but I cannot open or import it anywhere. Could someone please help me fix the corrupted header? Here is the file link: skp - Google Drive . Thank you so much!
There’s no fix for either of those files. The .skb is nothing but zeroes and it’s more than just the header that is missing in the .skp file.
Where were you saving the file while working on it? Is it a cr acked version of SketchUp 2023 you’re using?
I save the file on an SSD, and I work through it, and when I’m done, I fold my laptop down and pull out the hard drive I save the file on an SSD, and I work through it, and when I’m done, I folded my laptop down and pulled it out. When I opened it again, it was like this.
Saving on any sort of external, network, or cloud synced drive is not recommended because there is a risk of this kind of errors (the risk is for some reason peculiar to SketchUp). Always save first on an internal drive and copy later to a different one if needed.
Also, always be sure to eject/unmount an external drive before disconnecting it. OS’s cache data and write it to disc later. You may lose data if you unplug a disc without first making sure the OS is finished writing to it.
