I am encountering an issue with SketchUp where I am unable to export DWG files successfully. Every time I try, SketchUp appears to be processing and exporting the file, but when I go to open it in AutoCAD, I get an error message indicating that the file is corrupted or otherwise unreadable.
I have tried exporting DWG files in different versions, using different export settings, and even importing and exporting the same file, but the issue persists. I have also checked for file naming and path length issues https://www.gbgenie.com/gb-whatsapp/, contact toast, Hide Views-Status but havenāt found any issues there.
I am reaching out to the SketchUp community for any guidance, advice or potential solutions on how to fix this DWG export problem. If anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any suggestions on how to troubleshoot the problem or resolve the issue, I would be grateful for your help. Thank you for your support!
How big is the file, how many edges does it contain?
Is your profile correct? SketchUp 8?
Sketchup free doesnāt have the option to export dwg files.
I believe that Autodesk has changed their file format multiple times since SketchUp 8 was released. There is a very good chance that you cannot export a dwg file that will work in modern versions of AutoCad.
Current AutoCAD has no issue with older versions of DWG. Opening older DWG files has never been an issue if this is what you meant. I was able to open an r12 dwg back from college several years ago with a current AutoCAD install.
Iād be willing to give it a go for OP if they want to share the file. Iād say itās more of a ābadā file instead of an older file.
AutoCad can open all old versions but can not save as earlier than R14.
as you see, every few years autodesk upgrades the dwg file.
In order to read a dwg-2018 you need autocad 2028 or more recent.
I suppose sketchup exports a very standard dwg, wouldnāt be surprised itās the last one.
Therefore, what Sketchup version are you using (sketchup 8? really ? still ? )and what autocad version are you running. problem might be there.
It seems @sindhuagarwal has left the building? No comments after the original post.
Posting the model for others to look at might help.
