SU has the SU process and can have webhepler processors. You seem to have them running but blocked from view. And SU does reach out to ping the SU server to provider a tally of how many people are using SU.

I have Webroot, but it’s not the only one that monitors process pinging of its developer’s server.

SU17 now requires hardware acceleration. So your graphics driver has to contain the required OpenGL support. Update your ATI driver. SU16 allows the CPU to process the OpenGL rendering instead of relying on the graphics card and its driver.

Since you are using a laptop, by default, it uses the integrated graphics adaptor. On a laptop, you have to specify the use of the graphics card. Try r-clicking on the desktop shortcut to see if you have an option to pick your graphics card or use integrated graphics chipset.

Recent Radeon drivers seem to recognize SketchUp and assign it to the Radeon card by default. It is always good to check, though.
