Sketchup 24 display issues

ever since the 24 update, I am experiencing poor graphic display edges look unaligned and jagged

What graphics card are you using? Which graphics engine are you using? Window>Preferences>Graphics.

Share your .skp file so we can see what you are working with.

Share the actual .skp file. The screenshot looks typical of the model or part of it being located at a huge distance from the origin.

Repeating yourself doesn’t help.

sorry brand new to this forum / community… just trying to figure out how to share it…

Drop the file into the reply window.
Or use Dropbox or similar if it’s too large.

Also update your profile so we know what graphics card you are using.

As I suggested, your model is at a huge distance from the origin. Over a mile.

Move the model close to the origin. Really there should be no need to have the cabinets spread out over such a large area anyway. Move them closer together.

Thank you greatly… It was a copy of another file I modified… not sure how the data got so far away? First time on this forum… was worth signing up for thanks again!

You’re welcome.

Perhaps a copy and paste and you pasted it a long way away.

Digging further I found this object. It’s even farther away.

You shouldn’t need to have your model spread out like this. There’s no need for the cabinets and such to be so far away from each other. Really you shouldn’t need all those copies at all.

Make sure you are using tags correctly. All edges and faces should be created and remain untagged.

Also purge unused stuff once in a while.

Better than 70% file size reduction.

Big help, I have never experienced that before, but I knew I was obviously doing something wrong… Not sure I understand about the edges and faces being untagged… I work allot using groups, then I tag them accordingly… how do you separate the edges then?

Not sure what you mean by “separate the edges” but only groups and components should be given tags. It could be that the incorrect tagging came from components you got from the 3D Warehouse or perhaps you exploded groups or components that had already been tagged. The edges and faces will inherit the tag in a case like that and so the very next thing to do after exploding the object is to untag the geometry while it’s still selected.

Got it, yes I was bringing 3D components in and out of that file and I’m sure that’s where things probably went lost in space… Really appreciate getting to the bottom of my so called graphics issue…

Sorry to bother again, I am working in the file you sent back to me, I double click on a group with in the file so as to modify it, but the rest of the model hides?

Sorry. I left Hide Rest of Model active. Go into Model Info>Components and untick the box for that.

FWIW, I use that feature quite a lot so I set up a keyboard shortcut for it.
