Sketchup 2026 keeps crashing

Hi, my sketchup keeps on crashing. I can’t even open an empty file with it. What should I do? it keeps on crashing and sometimes leading me to blue screen. Please help. My problem is launching the app itself everytime I open sketchup I wait about 2 to 3 secs then suddenly a report saying that the application crashed and having bugsplat errors. Please help me cause i dont know what to do. I have windows 25h2

I wonder if running SU in a virtual machine would work.

I have no idea whether this is a solution but might be worth a try.

I’m not sure how that would help anything at all.

If you’ve sent the bugsplat off with your email, you can contact support and they may be able to give you a clue as to why that is happening.

When is it crashing?

When you open the application from a file or from the SketchUp 2026 shortcut?

Hi, Elmtec-Adam! I’ve tried opening the file from the main app and from my files but both is not working, even opening a new file—it keeps on bugsplatting/crashing. Yes, I’ve sent them the error/bugsplat code but they still didn’t replying to me or even giving me updates for my problem.

I’ve tried all the basic troubleshoot I found on the internet, yet, it’s still not working. I don’t know what’s causing this.

Can you precise your operating system (Windows or Mac OS) and its version. You entered 2026 as the operating system. This is not correct.

Did you try disabling all your extensions?

I looked at the four bugsplats you sent in, and unusually they are for four different reasons.

For other people’s interest, only the standard extensions are active.

One thing you could try is to open a SKP from File Explorer, and see if that opens. The idea would be to skip the welcome screen, in case a recent model is causing problems when its thumbnail is being created.

Hello, Jean! I’m using Windows 25H2.

Put that in your forum profile.

Hello, Colin! I tried that already. It opened for a little while but kept crashing. The system suggested that I use the SketchUp app directly for better stability, but I can’t do that because SketchUp itself is crashing.

Thanks!

Hello, Daniel! Yes, I’ve disabled all my extensions. But, it still crashing.

Did you try repairing the SketchUp installation? Right click on the SketchUp installer. Choose Run as administrator. Then choose Repair. Do a cold reboot afterward.

Yes, I’ve done that also. I tried all the basic troubleshooting I’ve watched and searched online, sadly nothing works for me. The only app that is crashing on my device is SketchUp, My VRam and Ram is stable so I don’t know what’s causing this.

Try uninstalling with Revo uninstaller all the versions of sketchup you have, then update graphics drivers and install sketchup again. The screenshot you shared doesn’t say what graphics card are you using, it also says desktop but that cpu is for laptops.

Hello francis! My graphics driver is updated, currently I’m using NVIDIA Studio Driver ver. 591.74. and yes, I’m using Laptop—Predator Helios 16
