SketchUp - 2026 3D Basecamp

Hello Forum, I wanted to see if anyone would be able to shed some light on this year’s 3D Basecamp. I have been looking for any information I can find over the past couple weeks, hoping I might be able to take advantage of the early bird pricing, but keep striking out everywhere I look.

Then, this morning I received an email about Trimble Dimensions 2026 opening their registration and figured I’d finally get the answers I’ve been looking for. However, after filling out all the registry data, I ended up at the pricing page with still no answers as to what’s going on with 3D Basecamp.

Is there anyone that can confirm that SketchUp will be putting on their 3D Basecamp this year? As a 2024 attendee, I feel like there had been more information released by this time two years ago, so it does have me a little concerned that the event may not be taking place.

Please let me know whatever you can. Thanks!

If it is in Vegas again there are quite a few of us that do not want to visit the US right now (speaking as a US citizen who is living in Europe).

nothing yet, and the fact they opened dimension’s ticketing without a single info on the basecamp doesn’t bode well.

I’ve made too many jokes, too many memes and I’m too far left to be allowed on the plane.

Oh you will get on the plane. But once you arrive:

‘Welcome to the Hotel Americana,
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave…’

They’ll let you on the plane…and to the border. It’s there they’ll check your phone and social media posts and deny your entry. :frowning:

Looking back at last time, it looks like the first notification of the event was a year in advance, and the call for speaker proposals was in March.. I thinking it will be rather thin on sages for this year.

Something I have never been called!

Says you’ve earned the “Sage” badge!

I think he meant being called the thin part of that sentence…

That didn’t occur to me. Perhaps your right.

I have only attended one 3D basecamp (in Vancouver) and have been waiting for info about the Trimble conference this year. I also am looking at the “Sketchup 3D Summit” in Colorado in June. I would be interested to hear anyones thoughts on pro’s and con’s of these two options (assuming a 3D Basecamp is planned?). Thank you!

Lol - I’d say the biggest pro of the Summit right now is that we know it’s happening

Sorry, that’s probably not helpful.

I’ve attended both of these events (as a speaker), and I’ve found them both valuable for different reasons. Basecamp is a really big event with a lot of people, and the benefit of this is that there is a very wide array of topics presented on. It has a little bit of everything, plus it has things like a dedicated space where you can get help from SketchUp sages.

I can tell you especially since it got rolled into Trimble Dimensions, it feels very “big,” which can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

The Summit is a much smaller event (I think there were around 30-40 attendees last year @mikebrightman could probably help me with that number). There are generally 1-2 presentations or workshops going on at a time, and you get a lot of face time with the speakers as well. It’s a lot easier (in my opinion) to get to know the other attendees and the speakers, and each of the speakers will do an office hours to answer questions (though realistically it’s very easy to talk to pretty much anyone due to the size).

I love both events and really hope both happen this year.

If they do, it comes down to what you’re looking for - big event with lots of topics and tons of SketchUp users, speakers, and staff in one place, or a smaller event with less (but probably more targeted) topics and a lot of access to the presenters (not that you can’t talk to presenters at Basecamp, but they’re harder to find at the giant dinners and events)

Honestly, the fact that nothing has been said about Basecamp up to this point raises significant questions about if it’s happening or not, so that might make the decision for you.

I’m getting very worried because Trimble Dimensions (with which 3D Basecamp was co-located in 2024) has already been announced but not a peep about 3DBC. In these conspiracy theory days, it makes me wonder if Trimble is rethinking its monetary commitment to SketchUp. Big events like these cost a fortune!

There has been some big restructuring at SketchUp where many of the team who worked on just SketchUp are working in a more multi-disciplinary way across multiple Trimble products.

This may have rearranged how events such as 3DBC are planned this year - especially given the timing

You nailed it @JustinTSE! The 3D Summit is a much smaller boutique event for intermediate/advanced users. Most of the attendees are from small shops, and they are the ones who get hands on with SketchUp and LayOut to solve real problems in design, documentation, and construction. Currently we have 32 attendees, ~16 Speakers, and a handful of special guests attending. We will cap registrations at 75. The idea is that speakers present sessions, teach workshops, and explain in detail how this affects your workflow during office hours. The presenters stick around and are very accessible. It’s an awesome format with a great group of professionals. I hope to see you all in Denver and Vegas!

well, depending on what goes on with the basecamp, we might have to create a group to organise the Sommet 3d somewhere in europe too

This sounds like a fantastic idea to me!

Thanks for the info! I plan to go to both events this year, but am surprised to hear the uncertainty around SketchUp Basecamp. 2024 was a ton of fun, and I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t happen. I don’t know the relationship between Trimble and SketchUp, and frankly don’t really care. Figure it out; All for one and one for All :handshake: You guys got this! Love the team at SketchUp, and I met some rad people from Trimble. Regardless, if @mikebrightman’s SketchUp 3D summit is half as good as last years’, I’ll be happy. True community vibe, great wisdom shared, and some close friendships forged. Hope to connect with many fellow SKUPers at that event :call_me_hand: And if SketchUp is reading this, just know my vote/ plan is to be at Basecamp this year and I’m bringing a +1

Will there not be a Base Camp this year? If we haven’t heard anything by March I’m going to assume that it probably is off.

That makes 2 of us. Or 2.5
