Sketchup 2019 Diversification worry

My biggest worry right now is diversification.

You have Sketchup Pro subscription, Sketchup Pro Classic and Sketchup Studio.

How will it be prioritized?

  • Will the subscription model get more and more new stuff?
  • Will all the great new features end up in Studio?
  • Will the Classic version only get bug fixes and crumbs like this update?

Classic versus subscription refer to the payment/licencing period.

Featurewise, the highest package of both categories includes the desktop version of SketchUp Pro, with the exactly same power-user feature set.

Features only differ in the “extras” (which are not incorporated in the desktop client): SketchUp for Web, additional apps.

I agree, the naming is too confusing (Studio may be misunderstood as a more powerful desktop client, however it is a Pro subscription package with extras). I’ll see if I find an honest and complete comparison table.

And shop is the version people can’t use out in their workshop because a lot of people have no internet connection there… Yup, the names are confusion.

the lineup is actually not that complex (top-down):

• SketchUp Studio (subscription): SketchUp Classic + SketchUp Shop + Sefaira + Trimble Connect (unltd.) + AR/VR Mobile Viewer + XR Headset Viewing
• SketchUp Pro (subscription): SketchUp Classic + SketchUp Shop + Trimble Connect (unltd.) + AR/VR Mobile Viewer + XR Headset Viewing
• SketchUp Pro Classic (perpetual): SketchUp Classic + Trimble Connect (10 GB) + Mobile Viewer
• SketchUp Shop (subscription): SketchUp Shop + Trimble Connect (unltd.) + AR/VR Mobile Viewer
• SketchUp Free (subscription; non-commercial): SketchUp Free + Trimble Connect (10 GB) + Mobile Viewer

Thanks, I am aware of that.

I’m worried about what will be prioritized by the developers going forward. Things for subscription and studio I suspect.
