I’ve been having consistent performance problems with Sketchup Pro 2015 and Yosemite on my computer, but I don’t see these problems on other machines. Basically as soon as I open Sketchup the whole system’s UI becomes very choppy and rather less responsive.
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
What is strange is that I don’t see this happening on other setups, even on computers that are far less powerful than mine.
My workaround has been to disable the screen’s vsync via Quartz Debug. This makes the system a lot more responsive, at the cost of CPU usage.
FYI, the OpenGL driver monitor shows high CPU wait for the GPU, even when there are no Sketchup windows open. I’m attaching a screenshot of that. When Sketchup is not open, I do not see this behavior.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
