Sketch up to Vcarve for CNC Router. Export missing data

So I am looking for some help!

I am currently learning sketch up to link in workflow with Vcarve Pro and CNC Routing.

I have drawn a simple cabinet box with standard features like Cabineos and rebate for panel.

When I open it with Vcarve it shows me the top of the cabineo that is rebated for the cover but is missing the data that is 0.8mm deep.

I was expecting it to show parts at different depths in layers, but there are no layers only the data own the front face.

on some of the panels it is also missing the rebate slot for the rear panel.

If someone could point me in the direction of what I need to do to prevent this.

Thanks

Hello,

Maybe you can try the Export 2D projection feature of OpenCutList Extension.

It allows you to export this kind of DXF :

Cabinet End Panel 500x500 - DESSUS.dxf (17,1 Ko)

so when I bring the panel out on its own it works like you have done.

I will be creating a drawing with several different size cabinets in place so exporting each one individually will be a bit of a head ache.

I need the work flow to automatically assign layers to all parts in the model.

Hope that makes sense.

Do you get the expected results if you correct the reversed faces on the top and bottom of the cabinet? There should be no exposed blue back faces in your 3D model.

I would also suggest making the back panel a components (it’s all loose geometry at the moment), turning off Length Snapping in the model units, and increase Display Precision so you can see if you have any small errors creeping into the sizes of the objects.

Yes, so OpenCutList can do it in batch for you in one click.

But as @DaveR says, first you have to fix face orientation in your drawing.

And if you prefer, you can export Cutting Diagrams to DXF with depth layers too.

FWIW, I cleaned up your model, fixing the reversed faces, making the components solids, and purging unused stuff that was bloating the file.

Thank you everyone so much! Wish I had asked the question sooner to avoid wasting so many hours scratching my head!

Both methods suggested have worked well and I understand that I made a drawing error with faces.

This is a very handy thing to have learnt because when a panel has multiple operations on 2 faces I can select the one I want to be used when its cut on the CNC in sheet form and then change it for the single second operation.

You have also created my next question here!

How do you extend the panels to make the box bigger with out distorting the rest of the data like you have done in the picture?

I did manually by editing part drawing
