Scan essentials not working

Please help, I need the point cloud to work so I can print the project and send it off to the client.

Issue: Scan Essentials says it is loading the point cloud file, but does not show the point cloud in SU or LO.

Monday, I updated to SU and LO, and Scan Essentials 2025.1013 (SE). But when I tried to export a PDF from LO, it crashed every time. I switched to the SU’s classic driver, and the results had the point cloud rendering over the model, even though it was behind the model.

What I have done:

So, I looked at the Windows 11 event logs and noticed the “NVIDIA OpenGL” driver could not be found (see Loggeded:2025-10-21 10:28:20 PM and Logged: 2025-10-21 10:28:36 PM) .

  1. Update the driver through the Nvidia App, and it did not fix the issue.
  2. Tried a reboot with no improvement.
  3. Did a clean/complete driver uninstall using DDU and downloaded and installed the Nvidia Driver and rebooted the computer.
  4. Opened LO and exported a PDF and got a .NetRuntime Error (see Logged: 2025-10-21 11:04:01 PM).
  5. Using the Window’s uninstaller, I uninstalled SU and LO
  6. Redownloaded and reinstalled SU Studio, with Scan Essentials.
  7. Reboot the computer
  8. Open LO and exported pdf - printed fine, but no point cloud showing.
  9. Open SU, did not show the point cloud.
    1. Tried reloading the file from the e57 and then tried another rwp file that was working before and still it did not show.
    2. Tried turning on and off the point cloud section, clipping, and inspection options to see if they got turned on somehow.
    3. tried zooming all to see if the point cloud got shifted. - no dice.
    4. Tried reinstalling Scan Essentials after removing the su_pcp.rb file and folder form the Plugins folder.

Hopefully someone can help me to get SE working again.

Thank you for any suggestions you can offer.

The description for Event ID 1 from source NVIDIA OpenGL Driver cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

An application has requested more GPU memory than is
available in the system.
The application will now be closed.

I just started up a new file to see if the file I was using to test previously had the issue.

Add a point cloud (rwp file) to the new file. The point cloud “loaded” but it did not become visible. I used “snap to point cloud” to draw a line. Then I noticed this, a double line flashing across the bottom of the SU model space.

FYI: SketchUp 2026 had a bunch of work done to Scan Essentials.

Yes, I know about them. Thank you.

Can you share the point cloud to check if it opens on my machine? Or try opening it on other program.

I just tried opening Cyclone Reg 360 and its saying my graphic’s card is not recognized. It might be a GPU issue.

I am not sure how my Nvidia card became a “Basic Display Drive”

It says that the driver is not supported not the gpu itself. I would make a clean installation of windows again, that has fixed many problems for me in the past.

I have not changed the GPU, just updated the driver. I did not do any updates to Cyclone. And last week it was working fine.

I believe my laptop’s GPU(s) decided to go on permanent strike and that is what was causing the issues. I ended up replacing the system, as it was time too, but I was just hoping to get another 6 months out of it. The new system is must faster!

Time to update the ol’ forum profile with the new specs.

So the new system displays the point clouds okay?

yes, the update is on the task of things to do today.
yes displays the point clouds ok. If I am in the basic shader for the PC, I can have the ambient occlusion plus the shadows on without it going into boxy mode as I pan or zoom.

On the other hand I am liking the ambient shader for the PC - makes the pc look much more photographic.
