I need you to help me with a solution to my problem. I’d purchased Sketchup
Pro in 2019 and was totally satisfied with the product until last month when
a popup prompted me to upgrade. There was nothing that stood out implying Ineeded to pay anything for the upgrade and nothing outstanding that said it
was a trial. Is there a workaround I can employ to open the file and not lose all the work and time I invested? I’ll be 72 years old in March and my SS income is not enough to buy ANYTHING right now.
You have installed and used SketchUp Pro 2021 to save some SKP mode files, and now you want to resume using SketchUp Pro 2019 with those same SKP model files? If that is true, I think that you could upload the SKP files to the 3D Warehouse using a web browser. Then down-load them from the 3D Warehouse asking for the downloaded copies to be created in 2019 format. Then open the downloaded copies in SketchUp Pro 2019 and work as normal.
Edited to add that you could mark the uploaded models as private in the 3D Warehouse, so that no other users would be able to access them.
If the trial is still active, go to File → Save As and in the drop-down below where you enter a filename you can select the SketchUp version to save to. Otherwise I think you’ll have to try TDahl’s method.
It’s worth checking your license status, I’m sure @colin can look at that, as you may well be able to update to 2020 from 2019 and keep that as your classic one off license. Anything you have worked on and saved as 2021 can be recovered in various ways, down saved directly within 2021, opened in the web version and downloaded as 2019 or 2020, opened with an extension that will open newer versions in older systems, or even one of us converting for you.
Nothing is lost. We just need to get you back to your setup.
If this is a safe and workable solution I will owe you a rocket. Not sure what color you like, but your next rocket is on me. Thanks n Much Luv.
Man it seems everyone knows way more than I thought I’d ever need to know. I said from the start that I’m just your average throw rug trying to learn SU. Much Luv and Thanks
You sound like the sort of person I’d like to know.
Looks like I’ve got my study laid out for me. The degree of knowledge surrounding the least of us is astonishing. Can some of you guys apply for a job in DC. We could all us it. Thanks and Much Luv to ya.
It looks like you had 2018 for a couple of years, and then updated to 2019. You activated your permanent 2019 license on September 22nd. You don’t have a license for 2020 or 2021.
I do appreciate your reply, Thanks
