Ruby script for copy

How can I make a Ruby script to make a copy command. So many times I end up moving something I want to copy. I just need a simple script that I can set to C key and just copy without needing a modifier key. I know how to make a basic ruby scripts, but I cannot for the life of me find info on just making simple shortcuts like this.

Why don’t you just add C as a keyboard shortcut for Copy?

Not what I mean. I would like to start the move command and add the copy modifier but have it all start from the “C” key. So the script would just be hit “C”-start Move command-wait for selection-add copy modifier automatically. That way in my brain I am copying and not moving with a modifier. I control C for that kind of copy above. Sorry was on Christmas break. I end up with spaces where I meant to copy but start move and grab my object but forget to hit modifier. I have been using Sketchup for a LONG time too daily and it just is has not become second nature.

You know the modifier is a toggle, so tap it after you start the move and the original will be back where it started.

After 15+ years you would think I would be used to that but no sometimes I find empty spaces where I moved instead of copy. There should be a separate copy command and it would then give the option for additional features with the modifier key. Is there a Ruby script community here? Also, I find myself having to cancel move in other programs due to this toggle copy thing…
