Hopefully pushing this topic to the top of the list for a little bit.
Would like the ability to resize the columns in the Tag palette, and get rid of the color and Dashes columns as I’ve never, ever, used them in the 15+ years I’ve been using sketchup. I’ve been on the forums and seen other folks with this request going back years. As projects get more complex the list of Tags, and their names get longer and longer, so the ability to resize the name column at the expense of the color and dashes column would be a welcome improvement. Making the overall Tag palette wider is certainly a solution, but not without sacrificing screen real estate for it.
I initially posted this on the troubleshooting webpage and got a good/quick response from Sketchup, suggesting to add this to the Feature Request Forum. I see a lot of posts on this subject, but as of yet, Sketchup has not instituted a “fix” for this.
Thanks for your response and I see your point. The intention here is to give the user more flexibility to tailor the interface. If you use colors and dashes, great, you’ll want those headings. If other users don’t need them, how about just giving us the ability to resize/minimize those columns?
Tags window column resizing on Mac is absolutely “broken” and should be fixed. As evidence for that position I point out that the columns are resizable not only on SketchUp for PC and have been for a long time but the columns on the tags window in Layout for Mac are user resizable, it’s clearly possible on the Mac It’s not trivial, seeing tags full names is important. however this has been requested for years now and basically very few changes to the Mac UI have been implemented beyond the adding of the new tools and the removal of a few useful features in the name of standardizing across the different platforms. I believe that, like the Mac materials pallet, there is not much will to fix or improve. I think we will have to wait for the new “universal” UI that has begun with a stumble on PC to be implemented across both platforms before we might see any changes to the Mac interface. Let’s hope that happens soon and that we don’t loose too many more useful features in the process
