Removing Post Section

I need to remove the section of vertical post protrudes above the rectangle object.

Use Push/Pull on the top face and push it down.

Why are the post and rail painted with a texture of the ground?

That was something I grabbed to make the look different . I should have chosen something different.

Push pull does not work as it changes the height for every post that is the same object, and the rectangle passes through the object at an angle and push pull does not seem to allow foe that.

Sounds like your post is a component. If you only want to change the height of the one component, right click on it and choose Make Unique to separate it from the other instances.

So the top of the post isn’t perpendicular to the vertical sides. No way to tell that from your screen shot.

Instead of using Push/Pull, then, select the top face and its edges and use the Move tool to move the selection down.

It’s a whole lot easier to give you the exact right answers to questions if you share the .skp file.

I will upload it

SKP file

Post.skp (12.3 MB)

So. Make Unique. Open the component for editing. Select the top face. Get the Move tool. Move the selection down.

If you want to angle the top of the post to align with the rail, move the top face down to the uphill side of the rail as above. Then select just the downhill edge and move that down to the rail.

Before you do anything, though, go into Window>Model Info>Units and turn off Length Snapping. As your model exists, you have it on with the snapping interval of 1/16 in. That will make it more difficult to get precise measurements. I would also increase Display Precision so you can see small dimension units.

Thankyou so much it worked!
