Rectangles: w, h or h, w?

Hi, total SketchUp beginner here… sorry if this is a very basic question. Can anyone tell me whether there is a rule to whether to use height, width or width, height in the dimensions box when you draw a rectangle? I’m trying to do a basic floor plan using parallel projection/top view in the camera, and it seems to switch between those two options. Not sure why, or if I’m doing something wrong. Many thanks for advice!

The rule is that you enter the dimensions in x (red), y (green) order. There is no inherent meaning attached to height or width.

When you drag out a rectangle make it clearly longer in one direction and look at the Measurements window to see which dimension comes first. Use the same order for your entered dimensions.
