Recovering a Corrupt Sketchup File?

this file format was skb but i renamed it skp. i have no that file file. this file drawing my friend laptop he use sketchup25 verson.

At this point you’ll have to start over.

Please correct your forum profile, then. You are NOT using SketchUp for Schools. Ask him if it’s cr acked. That may be the cause of the file corruption.

This file do not open the sketchup 25.

When i open the file in sketchup 25.

“Open to feiled “ this tex view work place

Pls recover this File

Is this the same file you shared previously? You need to make it accessible to us.

I told you before there’s no recovery available on the file.

Hi is there a way to recover this file? It says “failed to open document” plssssss https://drive.google.com/file/d/1D1hPbbA2uKd_O2HvLsKYW5dfkcxI3y87/view?usp=sharing

It opened fine in SketchUp 2026. Time to update on your end. Since you have an active subscription you can update at no additional charge.

That’s a relief! Can I pleasee ask for a saved as copy? I would like to try to open it again on my pc. Thank youuu

Do what I did. Download it from your link and open it.

It works! Thanks!

Good.

BTW, you should clean up your model before you work on it anymore. I fixed incorrect tag usage …

… purged unused content …

… and reduced the excessively huge textures to a reasonable size.

That reduced the file size by more than 35%.

You should be ensuring that all edges and faces are untagged from the begining. There is no reason to be hoarding all the unused components and materials. It just makes your computer work harder.

My skp and skb files seem to be corrupted. I would appreciate to know if it would be possible to recover https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m9grB-swZGRjdv9pATzoagtLOlL2kVhB/view?usp=sharing I have an older backup but getting this one back would be great or at least know if it’s lost so i can move on. @DaveR

The last two thirds of the file contains nothing but zeroes. There’s no way to recover anything from it.

Trying to figure out where things went pear-shaped. Where were you saving the file while working on it? Which version of SketchUp are you really using? Your profile says SketchUp for Schools which is a web based version for school children and 2025 Desktop which is not SketchUp for Schools. If you are using SketchUp for desktop why aren’t you using SketchUp 2026? Are you using a cr acked version?

No i’m at school right now, i think its sketchup pro 2025 on the schools computers (I sped through setting up my account) I was working on the file and accidently took out the usb key it was stored on. Thanks for the confirmation tho.

That’s definitely going to cause problems. You really shouldn’t be working on the file while it is saved on the USB key. You should copy it to the internal drive to work on it. After successfully saving the file to the internal drive, copy it back to the USB key.

Please correct your forum profile. The wrong information there just gets in the way of help you.

Thanks for the advice, sad that my bad habits finally caught up to me lol. Does my profile / sketchup version make more sense now? I figured it would be the higher ED version.

Yes although the operating system should be Windows 10 or Windows 11 depending on what the machine has. And “windows” is not a graphics card.
