I’m looking for a way to flip an entire model built from DCs and have each DC recognise it has been flipped and make internal changes. Does anyone have tips on how to do this?

I haven’t been playing around with DCs much lately, but you can flip the model using the Scale tool (e.g. enter -1). Since DCs respond to scaling, this perhaps could be used… 🤔

We have no issue simply using the flip tool;

 ![flip](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/4X/e/1/c/e1cc949f8319e7d3ae66b59661da3753d4d8a62b.png)

However, we’d like each DC to somehow understand it has been flipped. As our DCs are auto-labelled, we need to be able to flip the label to read correctly. We can do it with a yes / no option in the component options dialogue, but this means selecting this option across a few hundred components in each project! We can’t select all components and simply apply to all as a common option, as each component inherits all common attributes.

It would be uber cool if @curic4su could apply a “Do Not Flip” option to his Curic Text plugin if it was possible!

BTW, we have found scaling and hitting a number to force to size actually breaks the dimensional sourcing from our panels! Crazy!

Make the model one giant DC and pass an =Parent!Flipped attribute all the way down to each DC as required?

EDIT: I am sure @pcmoor Philip will be py with some ideas…

Dona DC export but if you can multiply X, Y and Z scale ad test if the result is negative, you’d know if it’s flipped.

Hmmmm? I’ll give that another go for sure! I did trial it previously for something else, but it seemed getting settings to bury to Subgroups of Nested Groups doesn’t readily work:

**CURRENTLY:**
COMPONENT Primary
NESTED GROUP (Needs to flip back by recognising flip)

**OVERRIDE OPTION:**
OVERRIDE COMPONENT Primary
COMPONENT Now Nested Group
SUBGROUP Now Subgroup (???)

It’s this pushing to Subgroup seems to reading attributes from Primary!

I believe at some point, ruby script intervention is required for DCs. Thanks for a ruby tip for checking.
