Proper 2D DWG Export

Hi there,

when can we expect a proper Export to 2D DWG function?

I mean a function that turns components into blocks, tags into layers and connected lines into polylines. At least implement that, please-

I mean, exporting 3D DWG works well, but 2D DWG is still in the Stone Age. THIS would be a very useful function for anyone, I guess. Sometimes I wonder why it is even called DWG export, it should be called DXF export, cause that what it (sadly) is

Cheers.

If you export from layout 2026 now it exports with the sketchup tags as CAD layers. The components and poly lines should be implemented in future versions. There are plugins that can export tags to layers directly from sketchup 2D DWG or DXF, I’m not sure if they can export the components and poly lines.

Okay, but that’s not a good workflow, and it doesn’t really benefit SketchUp users. I think it’s absurd that software like SketchUp – which has been on the market for a really long time – still doesn’t have a proper AutoCAD 2D DWG export with even the minimum set of features (tags to layers, components to blocks).

It depends on your workflow, it’s a good workflow for me, but anyways I agree that there should be a native feature to export 2D dwg or dxf with tags as cad layers.

CuricToCad works great for 2d export - you can map which tags you want to go to which Layer, or just export them as is.

Sadly no way to go Component > Block

Component to block would just be great. And it is much more important in my opinion …
