As you can see from my model, I have drawn the base circle, added oblique lines to match up with the circle segments {there are 24 segments for a 24 face circle}. I have then drawn them upwards in a repeating pattern up to 24 segments high.
What should happen is the ends of the segments join so that double-clicking the base of a spiral, the entire spiral is selected. All I can get to do is to select a single segment, one at a time. How can I get all the segments to connect so that we now have 24 individual vertically spiralling elements?
I note that by placing two line segments collinear to each other but with a gap and selecting them, there is no tool that I can find that bridges the gap to join them. I think that this is my problem.
There is a gap between edge segments. It’s incredibly tiny–I had to scale the model up by a huge amount to be able to zoom in enough to see it but it’s there.
I would also suggest adjusting the height of the raised end of the edge segment to an easily confirmed distance above the circle. As it is it would be difficult to tell that you have moved the copies up exactly the right distance. Since you are modeling with Architectural units, I switched to decimal inches to show what you have.
I see what you are getting at. Precision, precision and precision gets the job done. Using the keyboard rather than dragging and eyeballing is obviously the way to go.
